Contemporary Office Refurbishment at College Yard, St Albans

Gilbert & Gregson were appointed to undertake the complete refurbishment of an impressive commercial office space at College Yard in St Albans.

The brief was to transform the premises into a contemporary, high-quality working environment that combined striking design with everyday functionality. From the exposed industrial-style ceiling and glazed partitions to the premium lighting and bespoke kitchen, every element was carefully considered to create a modern and inviting workplace.

Scope of Works

The comprehensive refurbishment included:

• Installation of a fire-rated ceiling to the underside of the first floor
• Acoustic insulation and a sleek black-painted finish
• New stud partitioning to create offices and meeting rooms
• Installation of contemporary glazed partitions
• Complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations
• Surface-mounted ducting incorporated into the exposed ceiling design
• Installation of all flooring, wall, ceiling and decorative finishes
• New internal doors and joinery

A Contemporary Industrial Design

The exposed, industrial-style ceiling gives the office its distinctive modern character. Finished in black, it incorporates the surface-mounted services and ducting as part of the overall design while also providing essential fire protection and acoustic insulation.

New stud and glazed partitions were installed to form a selection of private offices, meeting rooms and an impressive boardroom. The extensive use of glass allows natural light to flow throughout the workspace, creating a bright and open atmosphere while retaining the privacy required for meetings and focused work.

High-end lighting complements the industrial design and helps create a polished, professional environment throughout.

A Bespoke Barista-Style Kitchen

One of the standout features of the refurbishment is the bespoke kitchen, designed to capture the luxurious and welcoming feel of a contemporary barista-style café.
